Expanding on an initial three titles, Tactile Games is entering into a six-year partnership with Banijay Brands to produce and publish mobile games for viral sensation Simon’s Cat.
This long-term agreement builds on three existing titles that Tactile Games previously made for Banijay’s clever cat who uses different tricks to get plenty of food from his owner. Simon’s Cat: Story Time (2021), Simon’s Cat: Pop Time (2018) and Simon’s Cat: Crunch Time (2017) have collectively been downloaded more than 20 million times worldwide.
Simon’s Cat first debuted in a 2D-animated short film called Cat Man Do that was created by animator/illustrator Simon Tofiled in 2008. He launched an ongoing web series that same year. In 2015, Endemol Shine UK acquired a majority stake in Simon’s Cat from Tofield, and Banijay inherited the IP when it bought Endemol in 2020.
Tofield has published 100-plus episodes of Simon’s Cat on YouTube, where the brand’s official channel has racked up more than three billion views. And 21 million followers total have engaged with the brand across YouTube, TikTok, YouTube and other social media, according to a release.
