After returning to screens in a remastered series on Canadian streamer Crave last October, Run With Us Productions’ The Raccoons is looking to get back on shelves with three new licensing deals brokered by its UK-based agent The Point.1888.
Recharging the IP’s consumer products program with products that will roll out this year are Intercake (cake toppers in the UK), e-commerce retailer The HUT Group (apparel and mugs) and Roo & You (themed kids furniture in North America). Point.1888 and Playology also recently signed deals with UK’s Truffle Shuffle and Canada’s Retrokid, respectively, for apparel.
In addition to acquiring the revamped 2D-animated classic series (60 x 30 minutes) last March, Crave also picked up one-off specials The Christmas Raccoons (1980), The Raccoons On Ice (1981), The Raccoons Let’s Dance! (1984) and The Raccoons and the Lost Star (1983).
The Raccoons centers around the adventures of three raccoons who battle against evil businessman Cyril Sneer to preserve the Evergreen Forest. Environmental stewardship is a key focus, which was rare in the market when the show launched.
LA’s Prime Focus remastered the series and updated its soundtrack. Kevin Gillis is the show’s producer with co-director Paul Schibli.
