Warner Bros. Discovery LatAm has signed on as a co-production partner for the upcoming action-comedy toon Shasha & Milo (pictured).

The 25 x 22-minute series targets kids ages six to nine and centers on the titular characters, who lead double lives as regular school-going tweens and the guardians of an island under threat from evil cats. They achieve success in their dual identity by using their ability to transform between human, cat and hybrid forms.

Banijay’s Zodiak Kids & Family France (Totally Spies!) and South Korean studio Pingo Entertainment (GigaBuilder) are co-producing the CG-animated series while Zodiak Kids and Family Distribution holds global distribution rights. Banijay’s Benoît di Sabatino, Gary Milne and Pingo’s Hee Seok Shin are executive producers.

Shasha & Milo‘s expansion into LatAm as well as the renewal of preschool toon Batwheels are both evidence of a return to investment activity in the kids space at WBD, after 2022’s cost cutting. The company said in its year-end financial report this February that it was gearing up for a “year of building” in 2023.

Shasha & Milo had early success with sales, with Chinese streaming platform Tencent Video acquiring the show during production last year
