Keen to nurture seven new kids projects in its pipeline, Dublin’s Sow You Entertainment has hired a pair of well-known animation writers as development producers.
Amy Stephenson (pictured right) and Shane Langan (pictured left) started at the company in January and report directly to co-founder Lena Byrne. The husband-and-wife writers are familiar faces at many of Ireland’s animation studios, having worked in the past at Kavaleer Productions, Brown Bag Films, Daily Madness Productions and Cartoon Saloon. Their credits include Jam Media’s Nova Jones for BBC; Nickelodeon’s Best and Bester and Dorg Van Dango; and Piranha Bar’s Mya Go for RTEjr.
Sow You was able to expand its development team thanks in part to a funding infusion it recently received from Screen Ireland to create content. The prodco is currently developing and securing financing for preschool series Mondays with Maddy, a project that explores inter-generational relationships. It also has six other projects in the works, including a preschool show, an animated comedy for older kids and a feature film.
Sow You was founded in 2020 by former JAM Media execs Byrne, Chris Dicker and John Reynolds.
