Turkey’s Fauna Entertainment is exploring the universal appeal of music in its latest preschool project Moi & Lana (pictured), a 52 x two-minute series about two pals who travel the world to learn about popular kids songs from every culture.
Fauna has self-financed most of the budget for these 2D-animated shorts, but needs some outside funding to help get it over the line. Moi & Lana is slated for a digital-first launch in late 2023, and the studio is already talking to a number of linear broadcasters about presales.
To ensure that the project’s soundtrack is authentic and accessible, Fauna is collaborating with local musicians from each country featured in the series to record new, bilingual versions of the songs (in both English and their native local language).
Moi & Lana has been designed to take advantage of Fauna’s experience in digital-first IPs and music-driven content, said CEO Emre Aksoy in a release. The studio recently teamed up with Turkish popstar Özgün to develop and produce an upcoming series called Ediko (26 x two minutes), featuring original tunes by the singer touching on themes of inclusivity.
Fauna also previously produced Kukuli (52 x seven minutes), based on a YouTube IP about a monkey who loves singing, dancing and playing the ukulele. It has already aired in 80 countries, and will launch in Hong Kong later this year as part of a recent deal with local broadcaster HK TV.
