Kids animation industry veteran Mevelyn Noriega has launched a new LA-based production and distribution company called Wonderworld.Fun, and she already has three family-friendly series in the works.
Initially, Wonderworld.Fun will work with Kintop Pictures and Prime Focus Studios on proprietary animated content, as well as producing and distributing third-party titles.
Breaking in the studio’s pipeline are three comedy/adventure series projects in partnership with London-based Number9VFX, Number 9 Greece and ReDefine Originals (part of the DNEG group). No additional details about these concepts are currently available.
Wonderworld.Fun will focus initially on kids and family content, and the company’s mission is to create animation that celebrates the richness of different cultures and backgrounds, according to a press release.
Noriega has worked for the last 18 years at LA-based animation company Splash Entertainment, most recently as president of distribution. But she has also done stints at Mark Damon’s Vision Pictures and indie prodco Kushner-Locke.
