NATPE Global is returning to the industry’s event calendar in 2024, following its purchase by Kidscreen parentco Brunico Communications at the beginning of the year.
Well established as a critical gathering for the international TV market, NATPE Global has been on hold following its organization’s bankruptcy filing in 2022 and the subsequent acquisition of its business assets by Brunico in January 2023.
The brand’s first regional event under new ownership, NATPE Budapest, is taking place imminently from June 19 to 22. More than 300 buyers are registered to attend, with 100-plus exhibitors participating and exclusive US studio screenings taking place.
NATPE Global will return to its traditional post-holiday timeframe, running from January 16 to 18 in 2024. And Kidscreen Summit regulars will be very familiar with its new venue, the InterContinental Miami (pictured).
NATPE Global’s goal is to connect the “ecosystem” of the entertainment business across distribution, monetization, programming and licensing, says Russell Goldstein, president and CEO of Brunico. The event will have a content track featuring topics such as platform distribution, FAST channels, connected TVs and multichannel video programming distributors, which are all top-of-mind opportunities for kids entertainment companies.
“With the explosion in media environments that can broadcast and stream entertainment, these are high-value connections to make for all IP rights owners, but especially in kids entertainment, where the audiences tend to be early adopters,” says Goldstein. “Kids entertainment is a core part of the industry’s programming mix, and now more than ever, it’s crucial to be in front of the international buying community and across as many territories and platforms as possible.”
