TVO has promoted Kirsten Hurd (pictured) to commissioning editor of TVOkids for its original content orders and acquisitions. She now reports to Natasha Negrea, who is taking on the newly created role of head of programming as part of a broader reorg.
Formerly an executive producer at TVOkids, Negrea’s new remit puts her in charge of the overall direction and growth of TVO’s children’s and documentary programming. She steps into the new position on July 7, reporting to John Ferri, VP of programming and content.
Hurd, who joined the pubcaster in 2017, now leads development of the creative and educational voice of TVO’s kids content and platforms across broadcast, OTT and digital. Hurd has spent the last several months as executive producer, and during her TVO tenure has greenlit animated series Tiny Tall from Little Engine Moving Pictures and Image-In Atlantique’s Audrey’s Shelter, as well as live-action shows Secrets of the Forest from Fifth Ground Entertainment and Apartment 11’s Green Squad.
Hurd came to TVO on the acquisitions side after five years as director of international sales and acquisitions at marblemedia-owned Distribution360, and prior sales jobs at CBC and Cookie Jar Entertainment.
