Crayola is teaming up with location-based entertainment companies BrightColors and Kingsmen Xperience to build a new Crayola Experience entertainment center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The 30,000 square-foot indoor attraction will launch in fall next year and feature more than 20 hands-on activities for kids, including naming their original Crayola crayon, creating melted wax art and getting turned into their own coloring page. It will also feature a retail store with a wide range of Crayola-branded products and exclusive merchandise.

The Crayola Experience in Tennessee is the first of five new attractions BrightColors plans to build in the US with the crayon and marker-maker over the next five years. The plan is to double the attraction brand’s locations in the States, which already has centers in Pennsylvania, Florida, Minnesota, Texas and Arizona. Each of its five locations gets more than 1.5 million guests each year, according to the company.

Crayola is also making a splash into the kids content market with a new content division. Crayola Studios opened earlier this month and is working with New York-based MiMO Studios to co-develop its first project The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian (52 x 11 minutes), an animated series based on the sci-fi podcast of the same name.
