Former Paramount Global and Disney exec Mark Kingston has launched an IP management company called Libertas Brands, and its first client is one of Spin Master’s plush properties.
Kingston, who has been working as ZAG’s SVP of global consumer products for the last seven months, officially started as the CEO of his new London-based company yesterday.
Libertas has already secured global rights in all categories to the Fuggler IP from Toronto-based Spin Master. This plush brand for kids ages four and up features a motley crew of ugly monsters with human-like teeth, mismatched eyes and underwear. According to Kingston, it will have sold more than 3.4 million units in 10 markets by the end of this year, including North America, the UK, Spain and Australia.
Throughout 2024, Kingston will focus on launching the brand in additional markets, as well as moving its monster characters into content and location-based experiences.
Louise McGettrick first launched the Fuggler IP in the UK 13 years ago. Spin Master acquired the collectible plush range in 2018, and licensed the toy rights to British toyco Addo Play in 2022 for three years. Addo will continue to design and manufacture Fuggler plush toys globally for Libertas.
