SkyShowtime appoints a new chief content officer

Former Netflix EMEA content director Kai Finke will oversee the European streamer’s programming library, including acquisitions and originals.

Kai FinkeComcast and Paramount Global’s year-old streaming service SkyShowtime has named Kai Finke as its chief content officer. Based in Amsterdam, Finke started yesterday and replaces Jon Farrar, who is leaving the company.

All tolled, Finke will oversee a content library featuring more than 10,000 hours of programming from Universal Pictures (Puss in Boots: The Last Wish), DreamWorks Animation (Kung Fu Panda) and Nickelodeon (SpongeBob SquarePants). He is also tasked with growing the streamer’s subscriber base, reporting to SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan.

Prior to joining SkyShowtime, Finke worked for eight years at Netflix EMEA as a director of content, licensing and co-productions. And before that, he managed business development for German distributor Telepool and was a content manager at Vodafone in London. 

Comcast and Paramount Global launched SkyShowtime in September 2022. It’s currently available in 22 European countries, including Croatia, Czech Republic, Norway, Poland and Spain.
