Canadian pubcaster CBC Kids has signed on as a commissioning broadcaster for Marc Brown’s upcoming preschool series Hop.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s streamer Max greenlit the 2D-animated toon in June. Hop is Brown’s first new TV series since his iconic preschool show Arthur wrapped up last year after 25 seasons.
Toronto-based Epic Story Media is producing Hop, and the company’s Quebec-based subsidiary Loomi Animation will do the animation. The series is scheduled for a Q2 2024 launch on Max in the US and CBC Kids in Canada.
Hop centers on an enthusiastic frog with one leg shorter than the other, who sets off with his friends from Fair Village for adventures in a fantasy world populated by dragons, trolls, magic crayons and talking banjos. The series is designed to teach preschoolers how to embrace their own uniqueness and understand other people’s differences.
Epic Story Media founder Ken Faier is showing the first episode of the series to attendees at MIPCOM this week.
