Italian producer/distributor Mondo TV Group has signed a raft of new broadcast deals for its 2D-animated series MeteoHeroes.
Asian channels Cineplex (Thailand) and Jei TV (South Korea) have acquired exclusive pay-TV rights and non-exclusive free-to-air and SVOD rights to seasons one (52 x seven minutes) and two (52 x 13 minutes) of the toon for four- to seven-year-olds.
Distributor SPE HK has picked up both seasons for China, and Mi Media International (Brunei), MBC (Mauritius) and RTL Klub (Hungary) now have free-to-air rights for the first season in their respective regions.
MeteoHeroes will gradually roll out on all of these platforms from late 2023 through 2024.
Featuring a squad of young heroes with the power to control the weather, the series breaks down eco-themed topics such as sustainability and pollution for bridge viewers. Mondo co-produces MeteoHeroes with climatology research firm Meteo Expert (MOPI).
Since debuting in 2020, it has generated buyer interest around the world from channels including Canela Media (US), NTV (Chile) and Panda+ (Portugal). It now airs in more than 180 countries and 22 languages, and season two premiered this summer on Italy’s Cartoonito and Canal+ in France.
Last year, Mondo launched a video game called MeteoHeroes: Saving Planet Earth, which it co-produced with Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain and Gammera Nest. And podcast MeteoHeroes Adventures (52 x seven minutes) rolled out this August.
