The Pokémon Company International

The makers of Pokémon are looking to catch all the broadcasters with its new series Pokémon Horizons. Canadian sister networks Boomerang (formerly Cartoon Network) and Cartoon Network (formerly Teletoon) have picked up the 30 x 25-minute, 2D-animated series for a March 2, 2024 launch. Pokémon Horizons premiered in April on Japanese network TV Tokyo, and is notable for introducing new protagonists to replace trainer Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu. Previous broadcast deals for the series include Netflix (US), 9Go! (Australia) and BBC Children’s (UK).

Juno Films

The New Jersey-based company has picked up US theatrical distribution rights to Four Souls of Coyote (pictured), which has been shortlisted for a 2024 Academy Award in the International Feature category. Produced in Hungary by Cinemon (Redwall), this family-friendly, 2D-animated pic tells the story of Native Americans protesting an oil pipeline project on their ancestral lands. It mixes a modern-day plot with an ancient Creation myth to teach a message about living in harmony with the Earth.

Federation Studios

The French company has picked up international sales rights to live-action drama series We Are Legend (12 x 50 minutes), which is a co-production between Rai (Italy), Amazon Prime and Federation’s Italian subsidiary Fabula Pictures. It focuses on a group of teenagers learning to control newfound superpowers that manifest from their fears and desires. Federation has had sales success with other YA series it distributes, selling Kids in Crime to YLE (Finland), ERR (Estonia) and Filmin (Spain) and mystery series Delete Me to Disney (Spain), HBO Max (LatAm), Canal+ (France) and RTS (Switzerland), for example.

Mojo Fun

The UK-based collectible figurine manufacturer has inked a deal to distribute Italian toyco Quercetti’s range of preschool and educational toys in the UK and Ireland. Mojo will launch the products in March 2024, giving retail buyers a preview at London Toy Fair in January. Quercetti’s ranges include building sets, marble run games (where a marble travels down a track) and various puzzle games.
