LATAM Airlines Group launched a branded Paramount+ in-flight entertainment channel on its fleet of more than 300 aircraft this past Friday, offering a curated selection of the streamer’s kids content on routes to 148 destinations in 25 countries.
Original series such as Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, School Spirits, Rugrats, iCarly‘s live-action reboot and The Really Loud House are included in the programming package, according to a Paramount+ spokesperson.
The company has recently struck similar deals with Aussie airline Qantas (2022), British Airways (2022) and Germany’s national rail service Deutsche Bahn (January 2023).
Distribution through in-flight entertainment dipped during the pandemic, but new business in this market has been flourishing lately. License fees for kids content haven’t totally rebounded yet, but they are starting to level off, according to distributors.
With more than 63 million subscribers worldwide, the Paramount+ streaming platform has been involved in producing a wide variety of original programming for younger viewers, including original series like Star Trek: Prodigy, Big Nate and Transformers: EarthSpark, and films such as Rumble and Blue’s Big City Adventure.
