Live-action teen series Home Sweet Rome! (13 x 26 minutes) is going on a world tour, thanks to a batch of new sales to broadcasters in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Superights—the distribution arm of France’s Superprod Group—has sold the show to SVT (Sweden), NPO (Netherlands), NRK (Norway), YLE (Finland) and Euskal Telebista (Spain), ABC (Australia) and TVNZ (New Zealand). Max (US), Rai (Italy), WildBrain (Canada), BBC (UK) and ARD/One Gate Media (Germany) originally commissioned Home Sweet Rome! to premiere in their respective territories this past summer/fall.
According to a release, the series has also been renewed for a second season by leading commissioners, although Superights wouldn’t specify which ones.
A co-pro from Superprod’s Red Monk Studio (Italy) and First Generation Films (Canada), this live-actioner is about a 13-year-old American girl who moves to Rome with her dad and his new wife—who happens to be a famous Italian pop star. It explores the challenges of long-distance friendships and features original music from composers Chen Neeman and Alex Geringas.
