Spain’s DeAPlaneta Entertainment will manage media, licensing and digital rights to Nina & Olga in all territories worldwide excluding Italy, Australia and North America.
Italy’s Enanimation (The Sound Collector) and Aussie prodco Kreiworks (Tink it Up!) are behind this 2D-animated preschool toon that was originally commissioned by Italian public broadcaster Rai. Season one (52 x seven minutes) launched in 2021 on Rai Yoyo, and a second season is in production now for 2024.
Nina & Olga is based on a range of Olga the Cloud books penned by Nicoletta Costa, a prominent Italian children’s author/illustrator. More than 80 titles have been published since 1992, and the book series is currently one of the most popular homegrown kids IPs in Italy.
The TV concept centers around a six-year-old girl and her bestie (who happens to be a cloud) as they get together with friends to do things like building a skatepark in the sky, learning how to fly a kite or dealing with being sick.
This marks the latest addition to DeAPlaneta’s fast-growing distribution portfolio. Over the past month alone, the company has also picked up rights to South Korea’s Bugsbot Ignition and spin-off series Bugsbot G, as well as Adventurer Carly from China’s Fantawild Animation.
