The Paris-based distributor has sold TeamTO’s CG-animated Christmas special Angelo, Wake Up It’s Christmas! (pictured, 60 minutes) to several broadcasters across Europe and North America. TV3 (Spain), ERR (Estonia), Ceska TV (Czech Republic), RTP (Portugal), MTVA (Hungary), RTBF (Belgium) and Radio-Canada have all picked up the festive laugher that centers around the star of TeamTO’s Angelo Rules (312 x 11 minutes). In this one-off adventure, he lands on Santa’s naughty list and gets stuck in a time loop, reliving Christmas Day over and over again.
Wondery
Amazon’s Wondery and Dr. Seuss Enterprises have renewed their original podcast series ‘Tis The Grinch Holiday Podcast for a second season, which Wondery plans to launch towards the end of 2024. Featuring a variety show structure, this podcast sees The Grinch chatting with real-life celebrity guests—such as Grammy winner Meghan Trainor and actor Patton Oswalt—who try to convince the creature with a heart that’s two sizes too small to embrace the spirit of Christmas. Season one premiered in November and has since become one of the top 50 titles on Apple Podcasts for 2023, according to Wondery.
Acamar Films
Bing‘s producer/distributor has teamed with British theater chains Showcase Cinemas, The Light and Vue Entertainment to screen its 59-minute Christmas-themed content package in 119 cinemas across the UK and Ireland. Bing’s Christmas and Other Stories includes an It’s Christmas special, plus three episodes from the Bing TV series and several games. This marks the largest theatrical distribution that Acamar has secured since it first created the package in 2020.
CBeebies
A couple of holiday-themed children’s books will be featured in the pubcaster’s CBeebies Bedtime Stories series this weekend. British actor and frequent CBeebies presenter Justin Fletcher (a.k.a. Mr. Tumble) will do a turn as Father Christmas, reading The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve. And CBeebies has also tapped Fletcher to read The Hospital Dog (written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie) on Christmas Day.
