Live-action pic Kina & Yuk travels the globe

The family-friendly movie about a pair of foxes is poised to hit 30 more markets since its theatrical debut in France last month.

Film distributor Newen Connect has inked 30-plus international sales for a new live-action family feature called Kina & Yuk, Variety reports.

Produced by French studio Valdès and directed by Guillaume Maidatchevsky (Ailo’s Journey), the pic premiered in France on December 27, telling the story of two foxes on a mission to reunite after they are separated by melting polar ice.  

Newen’s first batch of distribution deals cover key regions such as Australia and New Zealand (Rialto); the Baltic states (Acme); Hungary (Vertigo); Indonesia (PT Falcon); the Middle East (Grand Entertainment); Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria (Golden Film); Poland (Best Film); Spain (Beta Fiction); Switzerland (Pathe) and Turkey (ATV). Italso closed an in-flight entertainment deal through Skeye. 

Featuring real animals in their natural habitat, Kina & Yuk was shot in Canada’s Yukon territory, with financial support from regional orgs such as Téléfilm Canada, Manitoba Film and Video Production Tax Credit and Yukon Film Production Fund. Adler Entertainment, TF1 Studio and Les Productions Rivard were also co-producers on the project.
