Spin Master has appointed WildBrain CPLG as the licensing agent on record for Unicorn Academy in the Nordics, Iberia, Italy and Benelux.
Spin’s Netflix original series Unicorn Academy (eight x 22 minutes) launched worldwide on the streamer in November 2023, along with a 72-minute stand-alone movie. And Super RTL (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) has picked up the series to start airing across Germany, Austria and Switzerland this coming November.
Unicorn Academy is aimed at five- to 11-year-olds and follows the freshmen class of a school where students learn how to bond with the magical horned beasts. It’s based on Julie Sykes’ New York Times bestselling fantasy-adventure book series that boasts 20 titles published by Nosy Crow (London) and Penguin Random House (North America) since 2018.
WildBrain CPLG will initially focus on apparel, accessories, home decor, health & beauty and back-to-school paper products for the brand. And it’s also managing the location-based entertainment rights, an area of business the company is actively expanding in right now
It’s also worth noting that the two companies are already working together on Spin Master IPs such as Bakugan, Hatchimals and Mighty Express.
