Monster Entertainment has signed on to distribute preschool series Reggie Rex! (pictured) in Europe, Africa, North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and the CIS, working on behalf of Chinese media giant bilibili.
Reggie Rex! is based on a picture book by Tatsuya Miyanishi called You Look Yummy!, which was released in 2003 by Japan’s POPLAR Publishing. New York’s Baboon Animation developed the CG-animated series that centers around a young T-Rex learning everything from social-emotional skills to science fundamentals.
A first season (52 x six minutes) debuted last year on bilibili’s video-sharing website and other Chinese platforms including Mango TV and iQIYI. Korea’s Daewon TV and Taiwan’s Momo TV also picked up and premiered the show last month, and season two is slated to roll out later this year.
Monster will move the toon into more markets, where it can hopefully replicate its strong performance in Southeast Asia. (For example, Reggie Rex! has already racked up more than 790 million views on Chinese linear channel BRTV KAKU alone.)
