Canadian techco A Parent Media Company (APMC), the parent company of AVOD Kidoodle.TV, has secured a deal with Atlanta-based connected TV company VIDAA to launch a Kids & Family Hub on smart TVs.
The deal has a few parts. On the content side, Kidoodle.TV’s programming—both its originals and its catalogue of third-party acquisitions—will be available in this hub. The hub will launch on smart TVs that VIDAA’s operating system powers in spring 2024. The catalogue available at launch will include more than 50,000 videos, including episodes of PAW Patrol, Dude Perfect OT, Blippi Wonders and Peppa Pig.
The hub will be available on the more than 25 million smart TVs that VIDAA’s software powers, including those that its parentco, TV manufacturer Hisense, makes. According to VIDAA, viewers streamed more than two billion hours of content on its platform in December 2023.
This deal makes Kidoodle.TV a more appealing place for companies to put content because it means more potential viewers, and since the AVOD pays by number of views content gets, it means more ROI for producers, says Brenda Bisner, Kidoodle.TV’s chief content officer.
Launching the hub is also a new advertising opportunity for APMC, since Kidoodle.TV’s advertising tech will underpin the app, giving advertisers opportunities to buy both programmatic and direct ads.
Kidoodle.TV is a popular app on VIDAA devices, and so for Hisense, the deal is a natural way to provide kids with a lot of content that’s safe from inappropriate ads, according to a release.
