French studio Millimages has tapped British manufacturer Heathside Trading to make toys, collectibles and gifts for Molang that will launch at retail across Europe, the UK and the US in Q3 2024.

This deal was brokered by licensing agent bRAND-WARD, which represents the brand in Ireland and the UK.

Centering around the friendship between a bunny and a chick, Molang started off as a non-dialogue preschool series (produced by Millimages for Canal+ in 2015) that now spans more than 300 episodes. The IP has also generated more than 700 million views on YouTube Kids and boasts more than seven million social media followers. YouTube-first spinoff series Molang & Piu Piu YouTubers (26 x 10 minutes) launched in June, and its most-watched episode has more than 4.5 million views.

The Molang consumer products program has 18 international licensing agents, and the newest  licensees to come aboard in recent months include Spain’s PlaybyPlay for a line of plush toys in Europe and LatAm, and Singaporean retailer Shein for a capsule collection.

Heathside Trading is a significant licensing partner for the brand, with a portfolio that already includes Star Trek (Paramount), Godzilla (Toho), video game Stumble Guys (Scopely) and TV series Foundation (Skydance).
