Roblox is beefing up its global partnerships team with three new hires, including former Disney interactive experiences VP John Love.
In his new role as VP of business development, Love is responsible for overseeing global platform partnerships, including with connected devices and app stores. He’s going to work to create new revenue opportunities for Roblox creators, and expanding a daily active user base that’s currently sitting at 71.5 million.
Love previously worked at Disney for 11 years in executive roles that were focused on building digital products and overseeing apps. He started at the Mouse House in 2012, after it acquired two companies he co-founded, SpotMixer and online video creation and distribution service One True Media.
Lisa Willet has also joined the Roblox team as head of travel, auto and financial partnerships. She’s coming off a five-year stint at Meta, where she most recently served as head of agency partnerships, emerging horizontals, and brand and sales activations.
Lastly, Twitch’s former head of insights and measurement Allison McDuffee has stepped into a similar role at Roblox as global head of brand insights and measurement role. McDuffee also worked at NBCUniversal and Disney earlier in her career.
Roblox is regarded by many toycos and brand owners as the next big frontier for licensing. Last June, the company unveiled a Partner Program designed to connect brands with game developers, creators and ad companies that have experience reaching and understanding its audiences. Roblox has also started releasing case studies, updates and new marketing tools in a bid to help partners figure out how to use its platform more effectively.
Between Q1 and Q3 2023, a whopping 1.6 billion digital fashion items and accessories were sold on Roblox. And in Q4, the company generated US$749.9 million in revenue, up 30% from the same period in 2022.
