DC Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery’s superhero movie vertical, is adding a live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans franchise to its initial slate of feature films.
Led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the studio has tapped American actor and playwright Ana Nogueira to pen a screenplay for the first film, which brings the iconic teenage sidekicks of heroes such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman together as a team to save the world from evil villains. At press time, no details were available about which characters would be featured on the big screen, but the comic book cast includes Robin, Kid Flash, Raven, Cyborg and Beast Boy.
While the Titans have been around in comic form since 1964, the franchise’s crown jewel is Cartoon Network’s 2D-animated series Teen Titans (66 x 22 minutes), which debuted in 2003. Since it wrapped in 2006, WB has released the 2D-animated feature film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (pictured) and a live-action Titans TV series (49 x 50 minutes) for The CW.
This is the second project that Nogueira is working on for WBD after she was tapped to pen a script for a Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film last year.
DC Studios’ new film universe will kick off on July 11, 2025 with the premiere of Gunn’s take on the iconic Man of Steel in Superman Legacy. And it’s also producing live-action adaptations of Swamp Thing, Batman’s The Brave and the Bold and The Authority.
