  • Toronto’s Headspinner Productions has sold Aunty B’s House (20 x seven minutes) to Tubi TV, a streaming service that operates in the US, Canada, Mexico and Australia. Tubi has licensed the non-Canadian rights to the preschool sitcom about life in a foster family, which will continue to be available in Canada on CBC Kids and CBC Gem.
  • Heinz UK and Mattel EMEA have cooked up a clever new food stunt to celebrate Barbie’s 65th anniversary. A limited-edition Barbiecue vegan mayo with BBQ sauce will be available at select British retailers for the next month…and yes, it is Barbie pink, thanks to a little beetroot extract in its formula.
  • Launched by Larry Adams this February with backing from Whoopi Goldberg, niche streamer BLKFAM has entered into a new content partnership with linear TV network The Africa Channel. The two companies are co-developing a “BLKFAM on TAC” programming block that will celebrate Black family life and culture when it rolls out on both platforms. TAC will also launch a branded BLKFAM hub on its Demand Africa streaming service later this year, as well as helping to program and manage a BLKFAM FAST channel.
  • Toonz Media Group has sold Zoonicorn to Balkan broadcaster DexyCo Kids (Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia), which will start airing season one right away, followed by season two later this year to coincide with the regional launch of a consumer products program. In the US, Future Kids Today’s AVOD streamer Happy Kids has come back for season two, and Kartoon Channel and Kabillion have picked up their first rights to the show.
