French studio Xilam Animation is starting production on its latest 2D-animated series Submarine Jim (52 x 11 minutes) on the heels of inking presales with France Télévisions (France) and Super RTL (Germany).

This quirky adventure toon for the six to nine demo stars a young dolphin who’s part of a motley crew of sea creatures operating the world’s first submarine on wheels. They navigate both land and sea on an epic quest to find the pristine waters of Fishland.

Frédéric Martin, who directed preschool series Oggy Oggy for Xilam, created this new series concept. Premiere dates have not been set yet, but Xilam is planning to deliver Submarine Jim by Q2 2026 and will also manage distribution.

The studio has an existing catalogue that spans more than 2,200 episodes and three feature films, including well-known titles such as Oggy and the Cockroaches, Zig & Sharko and Karate Sheep. It’s also producing CG-animated preschool comedy Piggy Builders (which was commissioned by the BBC, France Télévisions and ZDF last month) and My Life in Versailles, a French co-pro with Films Grand Huit.
