Former Mediawan Kids & Family staffers Camille Oesch (pictured, left) and Guillaume Schmitt (pictured, right) have started up their own Paris-based production company called Kenchana (a Korean phrase for “everything is fine”) that will specialize in making 2D- and CG-animated series for French and international kids audiences.
Oesch left her position as a producer and head of originals at Mediawan’s Method Animation in January, and Shmitt used to work as the company’s in-house counsel. They’re developing a first slate of projects now, and will be attending Annecy next week to introduce the company and their vision to the global marketplace. “We hope to come back with some great projects for MIPCOM,” says Oesch.
During her eight-year tenure at Mediawan, Oesch worked on Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir and created three series: Petronix Defenders, Karters and Witch Detectives, which was presented at Cartoon Forum 2022. Before joining Mediawan in 2015, she was a development manager at Marathon Media.
In addition to Mediawan, Schmitt has spent most of his career working in legal roles for companies including law firm Taylor Wessing France and prodco Les Films Pelléas, but he was also a production assistant at White Light Films for a time.
