In a major restructuring, Warner Bros. Discovery is shuffling up its international kids leadership team, expanding the remits of several executives and letting go of APAC chief Chris Ho.
The announcements were made today in an internal staff memo from Vanessa Brookman, GM of kids, global streaming and international networks.
Adding international editorial strategy to his existing responsibilities, Pablo Zuccarino (pictured) has been promoted from SVP and GM for kids and family LatAm and US Hispanic to head of kids and animation in LatAm and international portfolio strategy. He will still be based in Miami, but now reports to LatAm and US Hispanic president and MD Fernando Medin.
In his newly created position, Zuccarino will work to deliver WBD’s kids content “in the most harmonious and impactful way across the globe, working with stakeholders across the wider WBD business,” according to Brookman.
Chris Ho, VP of kids content for APAC since last December, is leaving the company “as a result of these changes,” according to Brookman. He joined WBD (then WarnerMedia) in 2021 as senior network director of kids content for SEAP and Korea following a 14-year career at Disney.
“Chris has spearheaded some of the most significant recent developments in the region, including the launch of the Singapore-produced Tom and Jerry series [and] the rollout of Cartoonito. We extend our gratitude to him for his excellent service and dedication,” said Brookman.
Based in Madrid, Ana González is adding the Asia Pacific region to her editorial remit across linear, streaming and VOD as VP of kids content for Southern Europe, APAC and Africa.
In London office promotions, Sean Henry has been upped from VP of EMEA kids content strategy and partnerships to VP of international content partnerships and content strategy for EMEA; Sean Gorman is now VP of pay TV networks for EMEA, in addition to overseeing kids channels in the UK, the Nordics, the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey; and Mark Taynton has been appointed as head of Adult Swim, EMEA and adult animation content management international.
Michelle Truong is taking on a new LA-based role as manager of original animation, shifting over to the US team under Michael Ouweleen, president of Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, Discovery Kids and the US networks team.
And rounding out the senior ranks of the international kids team are Monika Oomen (VP of brand, communications and digital strategy EMEA), Alison York (head of kids data and insights) and Sarah Fell (VP of original animation EMEA, Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe). All three are based in London, although Fell reports to WBD president of animation Sam Register in LA.
