WBD is shutting down Boomerang

The streamer's subscribers and classic animated content will be shifted to Max at the end of September.

Warner Bros. Discovery is closing down US streamer Boomerang and migrating all of its subscribers to Max.

On September 30, the seven-year-old Boomerang app and website will cease operating, and its entire content portfolio will move to Max. This includes 4,000 episodes and movies from popular WBD and Hanna-Barbera animated brands including Scooby-Doo (pictured), Looney Tunes, The Flintstones and Tom and Jerry.

There we no layoffs from this, a spokesperson for WBD tells Kidscreen.

Boomerang users will automatically be subscribed to Max’s ad-free tier at the US$5.99 monthly price they’re currently paying. But after six months, this fee will increase to Max’s lowest monthly tier, which is US$9.99 with ads.

This move does not affect WBD’s global 24-hour Boomerang TV network, which is available worldwide.
