- Toonz Entertainment has secured licensing and merchandising deals for its preschool brand Zoonicorn. Teddy Mountain will launch DIY plush products across North America, the EU and the Emirates next spring, while Storypod is set to roll out audio stories for its player this holiday season. Zoonicorns are unicorns who gain social-emotional and decision-making skills on their adventures.
- ADK Emotions and T-Licensing have tapped Bulldog Licensing to represent Beyblade X (pictured) in the UK and Ireland. The spinning top and launcher brand has sold more than 500 million toys globally since its 1999 launch and has developed the IP into several animated series for kids. Beyblade X expanded this summer with a toy line, manga and anime.
- Licensing agency Kids Preferred has added Miffy to its catalogue of properties and is seeking licensing deals for preschool plush, books and toys for the popular bunny. The Joester Loria Group, which is the North American licensing agent for the brand, brokered the deal. Mercis is the worldwide licensor of the bunny who first appeared in books. To date, the Miffy titles have sold more than 85 million copies since the brand’s 1955 debut.
- Hasbro and Marvel have teamed up on a new YouTube series called Heroes in the Making based on the Play-Doh Marvel Collection playsets. The eight x three-minute CG/stop-motion-animated episodes will roll out on the Marvel HQ YouTube channel (8.8 million subscribers) this fall. The series revolves around Play-Doh versions of the Marvel heroes facing off against baddie Venom. The companies will eventually release the series on the Play-Doh YouTube channel and elsewhere.
