French producer/distributor StudioCanal has rebranded The Copyrights Group as StudioCanal Kids & Family in order to position its kids brand portfolio at the heart of consumer products business growth going forward.
The rebranded division will make its industry debut next week at Brand Licensing Europe in London. Françoise Guyonnet, who is currently EVP of StudioCanal’s kids brands and CEO of The Copyrights Group, will continue to run the ship as CEO.
Under Guyonnet’s leadership, StudioCanal Kids & Family’s mission is to drive brand development, licensing, location-based entertainment and retail initiatives for the company’s IPs, including flagship brand Paddington Bear. But Guyonnet says more properties will be joining the portfolio later this year.
Looking ahead to the domestic theatrical premiere of Paddington In Peru (pictured) in November (the film won’t open in the US and Canada until January 2025), deals with several new licensing and promotional partners have been inked recently, including HarperCollins for four tie-in books. Guyonnet will announce new toy, stationery and arts & crafts licensees next week at BLE.
