Epic Story Media promotes Steve Couture to co-CEO, and Reesee Entertainment hires Alpha Group GM Pebble Zhang as VP of licensing.

  • Steve Couture (pictured) has been upped to co-CEO of Epic Story Media in Toronto, where he’ll serve alongside president and CEO Ken Faier. The change won’t affect Couture’s role as CEO of Quebec-based sister company Epic Storyworlds—which he co-founded with Faier in 2018—and he will also continue to head up Roblex development studio Freeground and Loomi Animation. Moving Couture into a co-CEO role at ESM is designed to strengthen collaboration spanning Canada’s English- and French-speaking media sectors. The studio’s current kids properties include Wild Manes, Piper’s Pony Tales and Bubble’s Hotel.

  • China’s Reesee Entertainment has recruited Pebble Zhang to fill a newly created VP of licensing role that covers consumer products, location-based entertainment, theme parks and promotions. Zhang, who will also be a joint partner in the company’s licensing and merchandising branch, joined Reesee earlier this month from Alpha Group, where she was working as GM of its licensing division. Reesee has four original kids brands on the go right now (including Whee Wheels and Hailey), and it also manages Chinese media and licensing rights for third-party IPs such as True and Rainbow Kingdom and Oggy Oggy.
