The Toy Association will induct seven trailblazers into its Toy Industry Hall of Fame next February.
2025’s honorees include the inventor of the Rubik’s Cube, Erno Rubik (pictured), and Build-A-Bear founder and former chief executive Maxine Clark. Joining them is Sharon DiMinico, the founder and chairperson of specialty retailer Learning Express Toys.
The Toy Association will posthumously induct inventors Charles Pajeau (who created Tinkertoy) and Izannah Walker (credited with producing some of the world’s first patented dolls). And Edwin Lowe (who popularized Bingo and developed Yahtzee) and Marty Scheman (who pioneered the Letter of Credit transactions with Chinese toy companies and produced Sesame Street and Muppet toys under license) will also be honored.
The Toy Industry Hall of Fame was established 41 years ago in 1984 and has inducted 91 members to date. Notable honorees include Stan Lee, Walt Disney, George Lucas, Milton Bradley, George Parker and Herman Fisher.
