The LEGO Group has kicked off its global holiday campaign for 2024 with a brand-new character called Cataclaws headlining this year’s marketing efforts.

Representing the power of creativity that lives in all kids, the brick-built black-and-white cat is also being used to showcase how LEGO can create meaningful festive memories among family and friends, says SVP and head of Our LEGO Agency Nic Taylor.

The agency partnered with Scandinavian studio New-Land and Brazilian directors Gustavo Moraes and Marco Lafer at Alaska Filmes to produce a two-minute short film for YouTube introducing Cataclaws. But the short’s bigger mission is to inspire families to get a little closer during the holidays by building one of 20 featured LEGO products together.

Cataclaws will also make her way into LEGO Stores this month as a new character option at the Minifigure Factory, along with surfboard Santa and festive jumper girl. Young builders can also pick up Cataclaws Christmas sweaters for their other Minifigures to wear, or follow online instructions to build a lifesize version of Cataclaws’ beanie using their personal collection of bricks.

Some of the licensed construction sets Cataclaws is promoting in LEGO’s holiday campaign include Disney Simba the Lion King Cub, a LEGO Friends Advent Calendar and the Star Wars Imperial Star Destroyer.
