The starting grid is set for LEGO Group’s first Formula 1-licensed products after closing a licensing deal with the auto racing series in September.
With 17 SKUs in the pipeline, the Danish brickmaker will kick things off in the new year by dropping six new LEGO City sets for kids ages six and up, including a Ferrari-sponsored Pit Stop, a Mercedes-branded garage and a 1,086-piece F1 transport truck. These kits will be joined by the first F1 set in LEGO’s Duplo range for preschoolers, featuring the league’s starting grid, podium and two cars to race.
A second lap of 10 LEGO Speed Champions sets will hit retail in March, with each kit adapting the race cars from all of F1’s major teams, including McLaren and Aston Martin Aramco. LEGO is targeting kids ages 10 and up with these products, which average 250 pieces and offer an in-depth build experience of each team’s uniquely designed vehicle.
The toyco will finish out the launch with a wave of LEGO Collectibles F1 Race Cars in May.
