- Fledgling animation prodco Sycamore Studios has secured the film rights to a trilogy of Zita the Spacegirl graphic novels (pictured) penned by Ben Hatke. Sycamore plans to adapt the books about an adventurous young girl on an intergalactic quest to rescue her best friend from evil aliens into several animated features for family audiences. The studio is also producing a new CG-animated Doctor Dolittle movie.
- Kicking off its presence at the Asia TV Forum in Singapore this week, CAKE has announced the sale of 750 episodes from various kids shows in its catalogue to broadcasters and streamers across the APAC region. Thailand’s True Corp picked up a 275-episode package featuring Dodo, Space Chickens in Space, Super Sema and Tish Tash, while PCCW in Hong Kong licensed Angry Birds Summer Madness, Pablo and Aesop’s Theatre. But Chinese SVOD Hunan Mango TV, Sony India and RTV Indonesia also closed deals with the London-based distributor.
- Banijay Kids & Family has inked a new partnership with the Grévin Museum in Paris to open an interactive exhibit around Once Upon a Time… hero Maestro later this month. It will reimagine the iconic 2D-animated character as a statue that guides guests through the history of the 142-year-old museum, and unveils the process of how the Grévin creates its signature wax statues. The activation will also be supported in early 2025 by a Paris Subway marketing campaign.
