Colossul Studios has announced that Singapore-based Robot Playground Media is coming on board as a co-production partner for its upcoming anime-inspired adventure series Gabriel and the Guardians (13 x 22 minutes).

The partners showed a first trailer at the Asia TV Forum & Market in Singapore earlier this week, announcing that a full pilot episode will premiere on the Angel Studios Guild SVOD platform (450,000 subscribers) on January 29, 2025. Colossul, which is based in New York, has been developing Gabriel and the Guardians since 2020, and originally worked with Robot Playground on some pre-production materials two years ago.

Colossul’s debut anime series is designed for an audience of kids ages 10 and up, with a premise revolving around titular hero Gabriel, who uses his celestial powers to protect his world of Ara and the mortals living below from evil. The narrative is heavily inspired by ancient Hebrew scriptures and Genesis 6, which delves into stories of faith, culture, rebellion and redemption.

Colossul introduced this project last year on Angel Studios’ crowd-funding platform, Angel Invest. The campaign raised US$555,739 from 1,492 backers, and Angel Studios stepped in shortly afterwards to manage global distribution.
