The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California is turning 70 next year, and the Mouse House is honoring its iconic theme park by throwing a big birthday bash replete with new attractions, limited-time entertainment and exclusive merchandise.

Disneyland’s 70th Celebration will kick off on May 16 with the grand opening of new attraction Walt Disney—A Magical Life. Debuting at the resort’s Main Street Opera House theater, this experience will feature a cinematic retelling of Walt Disney’s journey and vision, wrapping up with a visit from the big boss himself using the company’s audio-animatronic technology.

Throughout the year, Disney plans to honor seven decades of themed entertainment by bringing back a wide range of fan-favorite events from years past at Disneyland and its sister park Disney California Adventure. Notable returns include the Paint the Night LED parade—which first ran during the resort’s 60th anniversary—and the Disney centennial anniversary nighttime spectacular Wondrous Journeys (pictured)

Rounding out the festivities, Disney will also open the Wonderful World of Sweets shop and Parkside Market dining hall next year to bolster its Downtown Disney District with new food & beverage offerings.
