Blokees’ global toy expansion hits hyperdrive with a Star Wars license

The iconic sci-fi IP joins a lineup of more than 50 franchises driving the brand into new markets worldwide.

In its latest move in a rapid worldwide expansion, Shanghai-based toyco Blokees is looking to make its mark on a galaxy not so far, far away by picking up Star Wars as a new license from Disney for its range of buildable action figures.

Blokees unveiled the new range yesterday at the opening day of Disney Toy Expo 2025 in Thailand.

Blokees makes figure building accessible to kids of all ages through their no-tool-or-glue-needed designs. The company was founded in 2014, but has mainly been serving the APAC region until recently, when its parentco Bloks Group completed its initial public offering earlier in January. After raising approximately US$215 million in net proceeds on opening day, the toymaker has made it its mission to expand worldwide by attending the Nuremberg International Toy Fair, New York Toy Fair, Singapore Comic Con and CCXP Mexico for the first time to bolster its retail network.

Blokees has built up a wide roster of more than 50 IPs to fuel its international growth plans. These include kids-skewing properties like Marvel, Sesame Street, Minions, Transformers, Saint Seiya, Ultraman and Hatsune Miku. Blokees’ more than 600 SKUs now sell across North America, LatAm and Europe in addition to its established presence in the APAC markets.

The company’s new Star Wars range includes Galaxy Version blind boxes, Hero10 building sets for kids ages six and up, and two Champion Class kits of Darth Vader and a Stormtrooper for teenage builders that will roll out to retailers early next year. The remaining figures will draw inspiration from The Mandalorian, featuring easy-to-assemble figures of Din Djarin, Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano and Grogu.
