- WildBrain has signed a deal for France Télévisions to air Mukpuddy, Cantilever Media and Sphere Media’s animated series Badjelly (pictured, 13 x 22 minutes) this fall. Based on comedian Spike Milligan’s book Badjelly the Witch: A Fairy Story, the fantasy series is about two kids who, on an adventure to find a lost cow, encounter all manner of unusual creatures, including the witch Badjelly. WildBrain is the global distributor for this Canadian, UK and New Zealand co-pro, which is aimed at seven- to 11-year-olds. WildBrain previously sold the series to ITV in the UK (launching October 16), RTS (Switzerland) and ViuTVsix (Hong Kong). WildBrain’s Family Channel and TVNZ in New Zealand commissioned it back in 2023.
- South Korea, the birthplace of K-pop, is getting a themed KPop Demon Hunters area this fall in the Everland theme park. Netflix has teamed up with Everland to launch an entertainment area starting on September 26 that features character meet-and-greets, themed dining and exclusive merchandise. Everland previously teamed with Netflix to create themed areas based on the tween/teen-skewing series All of Us Are Dead and Stranger Things. Everland is South Korea’s biggest theme park, and in 2023 it had more than five million visitors, according to Korea Herald.
- One of the most-played games in Roblox, Grow A Garden, has secured PhatMojo as its first-ever global toy partner to expand the title into consumer products. PhatMojo’s first range of products will launch in Q4 2025. Splitting Point Studios and Do Big Studios develop the gardening game, where players grow a variety of crops and flowers in a relaxing setting. In July, the game was one of the only titles on Roblox to have more than 10 million daily active users, according to Roblox, which highlighted Grow A Garden‘s success in its Q2 results. The game has already racked up more than 29 billion visits since its release in March.
- Crunchyroll has partnered with game developer Gamefam to launch a My Hero Academia title on Roblox. My Hero Academia: Ultimate launches tomorrow. In the game, kids can battle it out with other players in locations from the anime series. My Hero Academia focuses on kids at a school for superheroes in training. Gamefam announced the title yesterday.
