As Hasbro gears up to relocate its head office to Boston next year, Hasbro Entertainment president Olivier Dumont (pictured) is stepping down from the toyco to explore new opportunities.
His departure will be incorporated into a wider strategic restructure that combines the company’s entertainment and licensing teams into one focused unit.
Hasbro’s president of toys, games, licensing and entertainment Tim Kilpin announced Dumont’s departure yesterday in an internal memo. “A move to Boston wasn’t in the cards” for Dumont, it reads.
Dumont has worked on Hasbro brands for the past 15 years, leading content development, production and sales for kids & family series at Entertainment One, which was acquired by Hasbro in 2019. He has executive producer credits on Transformers One, Peppa Pig, PJ Masks, My Little Pony: A New Generation and Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, among other titles.
“I had the privilege of working with extraordinary colleagues, creators and partners across licensing and entertainment to bring these beloved brands to life, from stories to retail shelves, and hopefully created lifelong memories and a lifetime of play for fans,” Dumont tells Kidscreen.
To fill the gap, Kim Boyd will step into a newly created role as Hasbro’s president of licensing and entertainment. She has more than 18 years of experience at the toyco, where she has focused on brand and franchise management in multiple executive roles. Joining her existing team are Gabe Marano (head of TV), Zev Foreman (head of film), Tom Hartley (head of digital content) and Yannick Ferrero (head of content sales and distribution), all of whom will work with Boyd to accelerate growth in the company’s entertainment business.
Kilpin also announced that consumer products maven Billy Lagor is returning to Hasbro after spending the last two years working as the CEO of e-commerce collectibles retailer Entertainment Earth. In a new president of toys & board games position, Lagor will oversee the daily operations of Hasbro’s core toy business, giving Kilpin more time to focus on design and development.
Lastly, SVP of board games Brian Baker will take on oversight of the Play-Doh and NERF brands, and GM of action figures Tamara Grindrod will now also manage the fashion and preschool segments.
