Jakks Pacific’s business relationship with Disney is approaching BFF status, with the expansion of a key costume deal and the launch of a new licensed product line this fall.

Hitting retail shelves worldwide today is the toyco’s new Disney Darlings nurturing doll range for preschoolers, featuring diverse babies wearing clothing inspired by the Mouse House’s roster of iconic characters. Each doll comes packaged with a magic wand that kids can use to wake the doll, reveal its glowing rosy cheeks, or trigger a lullaby to help rock it back to sleep when they’re done playing.

Jakks plans to support the line post-launch with fashion packs so kids can personalize their doll with various outfits inspired by Minnie Mouse, Stitch, Pooh and The Aristocats. This marks the toyco’s first expansion with a licensed IP into the nurturing doll category, which is ripe with competition from Mattel (American Girl), Hasbro (Baby Alive), Corolle and Madame Alexander.

Meanwhile, Jakks’ costume subsidiary Disguise has renewed its Disney license and will continue selling dress-up costumes and accessories for kids and adults across the EMEA market. Some new items added to the range this year include infant costumes for Frozen‘s Elsa and Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas; light-up wands; tiara accessories; and a Disney Princess-branded trunk-or-treat kit for families that prefer to collect their candy in car gatherings at nearby schools and churches.

Jakks inked its first deal with Disney in 2017, when it became the master toy licensee for The Incredibles. But the relationship has since expanded to encompass a wide range of toys and collectibles for IPs such as Encanto, Moana, Wish and Tangled.
