Anish Mehta, former CEO of Indian animation studio Cosmos-Maya, is getting back into animation by expanding his Singapore-based marketing agency with the new Animeta AI Film Studio.
Based in Mumbai, this new business vertical—part of the marketing agency Animeta—will use AI to support creators in telling stories quicker by speeding up production and saving costs. The studio’s capabilities will range from creating promotional materials to providing animation services for feature-length films.
The new studio opened two months ago, Mehta tells Kidscreen. Animeta’s chief product officer Krishna Desai, formerly an executive director and network head of kids entertainment for Turner International, is leading it.
With his background in animation, Mehta is keen to work on kids and family animation, though the studio is open to working in all genres. Beyond animation service work, the studio will also produce its own TV and feature film projects, Mehta adds.
Before founding Animeta, Mehta was CEO of Cosmos-Maya for 10 years (2012 to 2022). In that time, the studio produced more than 5,000 hours of kids animation across more than 20 original shows. He spearheaded deals with Disney India and WarnerMedia for the shows Dr. Tenali Rama HMKD and Titoo and Lambuji Tinguji, according to Cosmos-Maya.
