Pure Imagination Studios and Prime Universe Films want to introduce Gen Alpha to the world’s first-ever monster truck—with a major multi-platform push.
The two banners have scooped up exclusive rights to the iconic Bigfoot brand from owner Bob Chandler via his BIGFOOT 4X4 company.
While these franchise plans are still in the early stages, one of the key components will be a live-action family movie that will serve as a history lesson on the monster truck phenomenon. It will follow the real-life story of Chandler, who created Bigfoot in the ’70s by adding giant tires to his Ford F-250. He would go on to crush cars with this modified truck in front of a crowd, which paved the way for a whole new live event genre.
Looking to reach young kids specifically, the studios are also developing a CG-animated series aimed at ages five to nine. This toon will be set in the world of Chandler Ranch, where an anthropomorphic Bigfoot and his buddies participate in races and learn lessons along the way.
Plans are also underway for a wide-ranging consumer products program, spanning categories like toys, apparel, collectibles and lifestyle goods. Tapping into the brand’s natural play factor, upcoming video games and immersive digital experiences will allow fans to customize and race monster trucks.
Monster truck events have remained a multi-generational draw, particularly in the US market. In recent years, kids companies like Jazwares, Spin Master and Nelvana have all struck deals with monster truck tour brand Monster Jam.
