Armorsaurs will be stomping onto Disney XD and Disney+, thanks to an expansive deal brokered by distributor CAKE with Disney Branded Television.
Season one of this new live-action series (13 x half hours) will launch next month on Disney XD in the US, followed by a global Disney+ rollout in February. The media giant has also committed to a second season with the same episode count.
MGA Entertainment and South Korea’s Daewon Media started production on Armorsaurs nearly two years ago. Aimed at ages six and up, the action-heavy series’ five teen protagonists protect Earth from aliens with a little help of their armored dinosaurs. Reminiscent of Power Rangers, Armorsaurs is actually a remake of Daewon’s live-action/CG-animated show Armored Saurus (2021).
K-pop group Tomorrow X Together’s song “Eyes” (from the original series soundtrack) will be featured in two episodes of the remake as well as playing over the end-credits. It’s a move designed to capitalize on a massive surge in K-pop interest this year.
As part of this deal, exclusive content from Armorsaurs will be available on the Disney Channel hub on YouTube (five million subscribers), along with select full episodes and shorts. MGA will also roll out toys, lifestyle products, games and digital extensions next year.
Korea’s Studio Eon and MGA-owned Aussie studio Pixel Zoo both worked on visual effects and animation components for Armorsaurs. Daewon is managing distribution in China, Japan and Korea, with CAKE taking all other territories.
