Will CAKE, Triggerfish or Like A Photon win Kidscreen’s Gold Star?

What about Delta? Sky? The Tree of Wisdom? Vote for who had the best week in the kids biz!
September 26, 2025

Between Cartoon Forum and MIPCOM, there’s not much time for the industry to rest at this time of year. New deals, new offices and new production announcements abounded this week, as studios around the world made big moves in advance of fall’s biggest TV content market.

Now the kudos for all their hard work are in your hands. Vote below for who gets Kidscreen’s Gold Star for shining the brightest this week!

CAKE: It’s hard enough these days for kids shows to get a single season order, but CAKE has managed to dig up a dino-sized deal for two seasons of Armorsaurs with Disney Branded Television. Reminiscent of the iconic Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, this show features five teenagers with attitude who suit up and pilot mecha-dinosaurs to save their world from an invading alien threat. But to ensure it doesn’t feel prehistoric, MGA Entertainment has decided to forgo the rock n’ roll riffs of the ’90s for some K-pop beats from boy group Tomorrow X Together. It’s armorin’ time!

Delta: What do Ryan’s World, MrBeast and Mother Goose Club have in common? (Beyond being massive kids & family YouTube channels, that is.) They’re all boarding Delta flights as part of a first-of-its-kind deal between an airline and YouTube to bring videos from top kids creators to seat backs. There’s nothing like algorithm-approved content to get the kids to chill out during a long journey. And as if this partnership weren’t enough, Delta is looking to make deals with even more creators in the future. Looks like this will be a smooth flight, with zero turbulence and lots of happy young passengers.

Sky: For a little English village, Elstree is a big deal for film fans. A filming site of choice for Hitchcock, Kubrick and Star Wars, Sky’s studio there has already put its stamp on Hollywood history with its contributions to Wicked, Paddington and Jurassic Park. After initially being rejected last year, Sky now has the OK to proceed with a major expansion of its facility that will reportedly be a big boon for the UK economy. (Sky is forecasting more than 2,000 new jobs and US$2.7 billion in production investment.) That’s especially important for the regional TV & film industry, which is still going through a rough period

The Tree of Wisdom: Oh, don’t mind us. We’re just practicing some  of the Rattlin’ Bog dance moves made famous by this Wiggles fan-favorite. Nephew of an OG Wiggle (the blue one) and son of the group’s former manager, performer Dominic Field has turned his endlessly energetic shrub character into a social media sensation adored by all ages. Building on this hype, the Wiggles are spotlighting The Tree of Wisdom in a new 18-episode show—and that’s on top of a soon-to-launch album and an arena tour! We’re crossing our fingers for a TCU (Tree Cinematic Universe).

Triggerfish & Like A Photon Creative: Location, location, location! This age-old expression is ringing in the industry’s ears this week as not just one, but two animation studios get ready to expand into the British Isles. South Africa’s best-known animation studio Triggerfish is setting up a new shop in the UK (location TBA), while Australia’s Like A Photon Creative gears up to open a Dublin production facility. Both moves will connect these companies with skilled local talent, tax credits and teams that can work while everyone else sleeps! It’s great to see those English and Irish tax incentives doing their job to attract new business, and equally great that Triggerfish and LAPC are healthy enough to plant their flags somewhere new.
