DEALS: Apple TV+ holds on to its Peanuts streaming rights

Plus, Spacetoon brings Bluey to Turkey. Fred Rogers Productions and Animotion Media have signed licensing agents. And are "combat pillows" a hot branding opportunity?
October 1, 2025
  • Apple TV+ has renewed its deal with WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide and Lee Mendelson Film Productions to maintain its status as the exclusive streaming home for all Peanuts content until 2030. This five-year extension includes the original Peanuts library, as well a newer slate of original series and specials. (The companies are currently in production on an animated feature film, for example.) The Peanuts classic catalogue has several specials that have become perennial family favorites, like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas, both of which Apple will hang onto for several more years. As it’s done in the past, the streamer plans to make those specials temporarily free-to-access for viewers during the holiday season this year. Apple has been the home of Peanuts since 2020.

  • BBC Studios has named Spacetoon International as the licensing agent for Bluey in Turkey, as well as its free-to-air broadcast partner in the region. Under the deal, Spacetooon will develop a range of consumer products and air the series on its linear channel and streaming service Spacetoon Go. Spacetoon International already oversees Bluey licensing in the Middle East.

  • Fred Rogers Productions has signed three new US licensing partners for its 2D-animated series Alma’s Way. Joining the program are Upbounders (toys, spring/winter 2026), Cat’s Meow Villages (home decor, November 1) and Loisa (food and kitchen accessories, 2026).

  • UAE-based Animotion Media has tapped Caravanserai Partners as the licensing agent for its flagship series The Fixies in Spain, Portugal and Andorra. This deal covers all merch categories, and is aimed at expanding the series’ presence in the Iberian region. The series already boasts a strong Spanish-speaking audience, according to Animotion, with a YouTube channel that has 2.8 million subscribers and 1.6 billion views. Caravanserai specializes in bringing brands into Spain, including Miffy, Nelly Jelly and 5 Minute Crafts.

  • Pillow fight! Surge Brands has signed a deal to serve as the worldwide licensing agent for Pillow Fight Championship (PFC), a sports/entertainment league in which competitors head into the ring for pro pillow fights. PFC has built up a decent kids & family audience since launching in 2021, and it hosts events in 12 countries, according to a Surge spokesperson. The company has a PFCKidz division that’s focused on building new leagues for younger competitors. PFCKidz also runs an e-commerce site where it currently sells “combat pillows” and apparel. But Surge wants to expand the brand into toys, trading cards, video games, apparel and accessories.
