DEALS: Monsters, Inc. is set to take over Monday Night Football

Plus, Hunter Price International is expanding the Fuggler plush brand into new product categories, and Netflix's Stranger Things: The Experience is headed to Abu Dhabi next month.

  • The iconic monsters of Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. are taking over ESPN’s Monday Night Football with a new animated altcast produced by Disney, Beyond Sports and the NFL. The special edition of Monsters Funday Football will air on December 8 through ESPN+, Disney+ and Disney-owned linear channels, as the Philadelphia Eagles face the Los Angeles Chargers. The altcast will recreate all the action of the real game, with the players recast as animated characters. The game will be set in the Monsters Inc. building and will feature several appearances from Billy Crystal’s Mike Wazowski and John Goodman’s Sulley throughout the night. 

 

  • Fuggler rights holder Libertas Brands has inked a deal with UK-based toyco Hunter Price International to expand the “ugly” plush brand into new product categories. An initial range of products will roll out across US and UK retailers next month, beginning with backpacks, fashion accessories, puzzles and stationery items. Hunter will continue to drop new Fuggler products next year and has started showcasing the next collection to buyers. 

 

  • Following sold-out runs in New York, London and Paris, Netflix’s Stranger Things: The Experience is coming to Abu Dhabi through a partnership with Miral Destinations. As part of the deal, the Stranger Things-branded experience will run for two months at Miral’s Yas Island resort, starting November 14. Yas Island houses several theme parks and entertainment centers for families, including Warner Bros. World, Ferrari World and Seaworld. 

 

  • The LEGO Group has teamed up with UK-based manufacturer Paladone to jointly design and launch a range of lifestyle products for kids and families. The first set of products are in development now and will bring the iconic bricks and minifigures to life across homeware, lighting, drinkware and health and beauty categories next year. 

 

  • Barunson E&A has come on board as an investor and sales agent for BASE Entertainment’s upcoming CG-animated feature film Garuda: Dare to Dream. Barunson will release the film in theatres across Indonesia in the first quarter of 2026. It follows the journey of a 13-year-old boy with asthma named Putra who uses the powers of a mystical jersey to achieve his dreams of playing for Indonesia’s national soccer team.
