Another nostalgic film is on its way from the Paddington team

Studiocanal and Heyday Films are developing a new take on the beloved UK kids publishing juggernaut Mr. Men Little Miss.

The producers behind the Paddington movies are hoping to replicate that page-to-screen magic with another British kidlit classic.

Studiocanal and Heyday Films (which co-produced the first two Paddington films) are teaming up again to develop a brand-new feature based on Mr. Men Little Miss.

This project will be a big-screen debut for the IP, which originated as a series of books created by Roger Hargreaves back in 1971. The franchise has a distinct format, following more than 90 brightly colored and minimalist characters that are each named after a specific trait—for example, Mr Greedy, Mr Chatterbox, Little Miss Bossy and Little Miss Sunshine.

With more than 250 million books sold to date, Mr. Men Little Miss is among the top-selling kids book series in key markets like France and the UK.

There are no plot details available at this time. But following Paddington’s lead, this project could help drive a revival of interest in another classic kidlit property—and maybe even a new look, if the producers opt for CG animation.

This Mr Men Little Miss film will be a collaboration with Hello Kitty owner Sanrio, which acquired rights to the brand in 2011. And there’s already been some entertainment momentum. Maga Animation produced a Mr. Men Little Miss Mini Adventures series that launched on YouTube this summer. And France’s Watch Next Media is working on a 78 x seven-minute preschool toon that’s expected to start production in 2026.

The brand previously had a film adaptation in the works with Night at the Museum’s Shawn Levy and Twentieth Century Fox Animation, but nothing ever materialized beyond the project announcement in 2015.
